My Dad of all people suggested I look into a career with Signature Aluminum of Canada after I got out of school and didn’t know how to proceed. I got a degree in mine engineering, but upon graduation I suddenly wasn’t sure that was what I wanted to do. Weird, right? Spend all that time, hard work, and money on an engineering degree and then suddenly develop interests in something else. I knew a guy who did the same thing with law school: went to school, got the degree, and then went into teaching kids in an elementary school.
My father wasn’t having any of that nonsense, however. He knew I had a good head on my shoulder and that I could make a lucrative career out of working in mine engineering. He was an engineer himself, in a different area, and he raised three kids easily on his salary. He suggested I take a month to think about it and then come back to him and talk about it. A friend and I moved into a two bedroom room at the Seaside Residences in Siglap. We decided to live together to save on the cost of renting a place, and it was a good decision by the both of us. We both have a pretty average income, especially since we are working part time while going to school, so our living arrangement makes perfect sense and let’s us have a place to live that isn’t far from where we attend school and work.
My friend is taking classes to become a doctor, while I’m taking computer science courses. Between the two of us, we don’t have a lot of free time, but when we do, we like to hit the town and do a little dancing at one of the local clubs. Even though we aren’t great dancers, we still have a good time at the club, and the other people don’t seem to mind, because many of them are bad dancers too. Continue reading Not So Much Free Time
I had no idea that I was going to have to move in such a short period of time. I don’t really blame anyone for it, as it was just one of those things that do happen. My old apartment got flooded, and it had such extensive damage that it would be at least a month before I could move back in. The only problem with that was, I had no other place to stay. I knew I needed to look at apartments in Old Town Scottsdale so I could have a place to lay my head at night.
As soon as I started looking at what all The Stetson offers to the ones who live there, I knew I wanted to be one of those people. Continue reading A Much Nicer Place to Live
I love to take pictures. There are some weekends when I will go out hiking and not come back until the next day. I had to stop doing that when my back started hurting me. I thought that it was because of my sleeping arrangements, which were not the best. However, even when I would sleep in my own bed at home, I noticed that my back would still hurt on occasion. I missed getting out there and taking great pictures though, and that is what motivated me to go and see a chiropractor in Sacramento.
I told him that my back had been hurting for years, but that I had just attributed it to sleeping on the ground in my sleeping bag. That is when he told me that my back should never hurt just from that. More than likely, it was just that my back had been out of alignment for that long, which meant that I would never be able to truly feel comfortable. Continue reading My Back No Longer Hurts Me
I was having pain in my back, so I decided to go online and see what I should do about it. I did this because a couple of my friends told me I should ice it while others said I should apply heat. Since the two are so different, I figured I would be better off going online and getting some more in depth answers. What I found out when I was reading about this was that I needed to see a chiropractor in Campbell CA to figure out what was actually causing the pain in my back.
It was not because of any injury, and I was not diagnosed with anything else like diabetes or arthritis that could cause me to have referred pain in my back. I did read where a person’s back gets out of its proper alignment simply with age, and I suspected that was the cause of my own pain. I was able to get a lot of information from one website in particular, so I made an appointment with that chiropractor. Continue reading My Back Was Causing Me Some Pain
Driving a cab is paying the bills, but it is not fun for my back. I have tried everything to be able to sit comfortably inside that cab for hours on end. I get out and walk every chance I get. My customers think I am being nice when I open doors and carry luggage. I am just trying to get out and move a bit! I even bought those beads you sit on. They did not help. What did help was when I saw a chiropractor in Sacramento to get the nerve impingement on my back fixed.
My lower back was the trouble spot. There is a nerve in your lower back that runs down over your hip into your leg. When you irritate it, you are in for a world of pain. If it could be triggered on demand, it would be a great torture tool. Many have probably felt it when it gets mildly irritated. It sends shooting pains down your leg all the way to your big toe that burn and feel like you are being shocked at the same time. When it really gets fired up, you can barely stand the pain. My husband recently received a promotion and was transferred to a new office across the country. We purchased a new home practically unseen, relying only on our real estate agent and one home inspection. I soon learned I should have hired a Sacramento HVAC services and repair company to do a separate inspection as well.
Coming from the New England area where our weather consisted of only heat and humidity or snow and more snow, my husband I were fairly certain that our life in California would no longer require us to have a furnace and we would simply open our windows and enjoy cool ocean breezes off the Pacific. We soon found we had vastly underestimated just how chilly California could be and that ocean breeze we imagined could rarely be counted on when we needed it the most.
We moved in August and spent our first night with every window open in our home and every fan we owned turned on in an attempt to battle the intense heat. Turning the thermostat as low as it would go yielded nothing but a slightly lukewarm bit of air through the air conditioning vents. We debated hopping in our car and heading toward the ocean for some relief and I was almost wishing we were back in Maine where the night temperatures were already beginning to drop in anticipation of fall and winter.
After a long night of hot, restless sleep, I spent the next morning in search of a HVAC repair service and was very pleased to find one that could send a repair person to our home later that day. It turned out that both our central air and furnace needed some maintenance and repair that neither our real estate agent or home inspector had noticed or noted in any inspection report.
I knew that I needed a Sacramento personal injury lawyer when it seemed I had lost my voice with the insurance company that was supposed to be helping me. I don’t mean literally, as in laryngitis. It just seemed they felt they could strong arm me into signing a release when I knew full well that my future was not certain as far as my injuries from an auto accident were concerned. I had pulled out of a side street with plenty of time to get on the road when I was struck by a truck going nearly three times the speed limit. Continue reading I Was Angry After My Accident
Anyone who has ever known a botanist knows how much they love plants. My wife is a botanist and plants are part of her every day life, even when she isn’t in the lab. She has plants all over the house that she loves to take care of as if they were her pets. I’ve never really been that keen on taking care of plants, mainly because every time I try to do it, the plant eventually dies. When I married my wife, she gave all of the guests plant wedding favors. Everyone walked away with a tiny little plant that they could take care of on their own.
If any of the guests were like me, their plants probably died after the first week of being brought home. The plants weren’t a variety that required extra care outside of proper sunlight, water, and nutrients, so anyone could have taken care of them. Continue reading Favors from a Plant Expert
I work for a company that is on the smaller side, and we made a couple of different types of snack foods that are starting to gain popularity in the workplace. We have had some troubles here and there with our machines, so I did some thorough research about how to fix that issue. I turned out that we needed to invest in some vibration mils that will help to monitor our equipment for any sort of troubles and alert us. We did exactly that and have had no troubles since then.
My father is the man who started our company. He loves to make fun things, and the snack foods that we create are definitely fun. Continue reading An Anonymous Person Posted Information Online That Really Helped Us
I was horrified when I dropped my Mom’s iPad Air when I was cleaning the screen. I had taken it out of its protective case because I wanted to get the entire screen cleaned. Instead of helping her like I had intended, I ended up messing up the one thing that she really enjoys on a daily basis. She told me to not worry about it, but it was hard not to because I know how much she enjoyed playing on it. I did a search for iPad repair in Richmond, thinking that if I could not figure out a way to get it fixed, then I would just buy her a new one.
I was really hoping that I would be able to get it fixed though because these things are so expensive. Continue reading Fixing the Screen is Better Than Buying New
I sell tiny parts from home. No walk-in customers, just fulfilling online orders. I only stock parts that are tough to find. I get a great price for them, and I do not have to ship massive quantities to make a living. My wife and I work out of a metal building on our property. The only traffic we have is the parcel trucks bringing and taking packages. I was online myself looking for a GSE scales technical reference manual. GSE stands for General Self-Efficacy. They are programmable scales you can use to weigh parts to determine quantity rather than counting them.
If a customer needs to order 100 screws for assembling an electronics part, we just weight them out instead of counting them. Continue reading We Sell Small Parts That Are Weighed on GSE Scales
When I first went to https://ed.ted.com/on/9xrlmy37, I really did not think that I was going to rent a party bus. I thought that they would be typical buses that just have a fancier driver, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the video of some party buses and limos from one company in particular. I think what surprised me the most was all of the color. These are not your regular buses by any stretch of the imagination. Just seeing the inside of one for a few seconds allowed me to see how special these are, and how much nicer they can make any event.
I had went to the site because my daughter was trying to convince me that she and her friends needed a party bus for their prom. Well, after seeing the video, I had to agree with all of them. The bus itself is really nice, and it was also big enough that there could be at least 10 to 20 couples on it. I figured that if all the parents split the cost between us, it would make it so it was not costly at all. Continue reading A Party Bus for Their Prom
Wasn’t it like just a few days ago and it was in the 80s outside? I mean, come on, this is ridiculous. Last year it was warm almost all the way up until the last holiday of the year! now it is cold before the kickoff of the holiday season. I never really counted the candy moocher holiday as being part of the holiday season anyway. Now that we have the furnace running, I’m not looking forward to opening the door a 100 times to pass out mini candy bars. Of course, we are saving on our Ohio gas now. Maybe I could be in more of a nice mood for the freeze my buns season.
When I was 22, I never got cold outside. Well, maybe I technically got cold, but I did not act like I was cold. I worked outside on cold October nights in a short-sleeved uniform shirt because the uniform department did not have long-sleeved shirts in my size. They also did not have any jackets in my size either. I barely noticed the wait until the rest of my new uniforms came in. Continue reading Keeping Warm Through Ohio Winters After 30 Years on the Job
When I told a friend about success I had teaching a canary to sing with a canary singing CD, she became intrigued and wondered if it would work on her parrot. Her parrot repeats things she says at random, with very little connection between the sentences. She gets annoyed with it sometimes, and would rather that it just sing a pleasant melody, rather than mimicking her conversations. She tried to get it to sing pop songs from the radio, but the bird didn’t want to memorize them. To be honest, I don’t blame the bird, as the songs were terrible.
I loaned the CD to my friend and she popped it into her CD player as soon as she got home. While the canaries on the CD were singing joyfully, the parrot was squawking and mimicking more of my friend’s conversations. Continue reading A New Bird Can Sing
